Jimi
Moore was born to play guitar. Early pictures of
him indicated that this would be his chosen path to
follow. He came from a musical family. His earliest
memories were listening to music as his Aunt always had the
radio on. He often found himself humming along to
the music from the AM radio days. Like most people, he loved
Elvis but he enjoyed listening to the musicians as much as
Elvis' voice. Loving the sound of vocal harmony he
found himself singing the harmony lines in all those 60's
songs. No one really taught him how to play. He grew up
in North St. Louis where several of his friends played
instruments as well. So they would all get together and jam
and while the time away. When he moved to Breckenridge
Hills, he met new friends who played like Danny Wells, Phil Fischer
and several others). He lived with his cousin Richard Moore
who played drums. They would play the records
and jam along with them for hours on end. But of course
"The Beatles" were the biggest musical influence. When they
came out Jimi was at just the right age to soak it all up.
Plus, it really impressed him that there could be a four piece band
without a front person! This meant he wouldn't have to back up
someone, like Elvis, Merle, Buck, etc. He liked the idea
of being an equal part, noted and intricate to a
group. Other musical influences which well
rounded his craft were Eric Clapton / Cream, Jimi
Hendricks, Led Zepplin, Albert King, B.B.King, Crosby, Stills,
Nash, Poco, James Gang and too many more to mention. All
these artist help create the talented musician that he
is. You hear it in whatever he plays, whether
it be Rock , Blues, Motown or Pop. A true lover of music, he
soaked up something from every style of music he was exposed
to. By age 19 he was fortunate enough to have backed up Chuck
Berry, while playing for Billy Peek, and traveled the US doing shows
with these two great artists. He had his own band,
Secrets, in the late 70's and moved to L.A. to pursue his career and
recorded two albums with them. He opened for Jan & Dean,
Rare Earth, Joe Cocker, with "Galager". Returning to the St.
Louis area he played with U.S.A., Cinema & Runaway
Hearts. In the 90's he played in " The Coyote Band" with Mary
Bell, Marcell Strong and Nick Nixon. He went back to rock it
up with The Stacey Collins Band in 2000. With his help,
this band would now be all that it could be. With the added
addition of Jimi Moore's outstanding guitar playing " The
Stacey Collins Band" has the edge and energy to satisfy
anyone's hunger to Rock &
Roll. |
