With Terry Fields, music ran like a river in
the family so it was inevitable that he would be a
musician. His father played guitar so he by age five was
introduced to the instrument. He learned the basics and
although he had great rhythm he found fingering
positions difficult. So at age 5 he traded in his guitar
for a two piece drumset (Bass & Snare) and with sticks in hand
he found his chosen conveyance. Thanks to the helpful hand of
a record player, he taught himself the mechanics of
drumming. His early influences were Buck Owens, The
Beatles, and later to add Elton John, Poco, the Outlaws, ACDC
and Aerosmith. At the young age of 16
he traveled to New York, and played with a trio at a
night spot in the Big Apple. Quite the experience for such a
young man. He traveled with many different kinds of bands
throughout his 40 years in the trade. He played on Nashville's
famed "Printer's Alley" with three brother's Baxter, Baxter &
Baxter. Other noted bands were, Rich Landers, who had a
top ten hit (Take it all) and played on the Wheeling, West Virginia
Jam. Terry has opened for Jazz legend Ramsey Lewis, Marshall
Tucker, Black Oak Arkansas, Ritchie Havens, Jerry Reed, Janie
Frickie, Arron Tippon, Shelly West, Loretta Lynn, Ozark Mountain
Dare Devils, David Grissum, Dan Seals and also backed up Crystal
Gale, Roy Head, David Wills and John
Conelly. Throughout the 80's he was with Zane
Grey Band and later played with Nick Nixon, Morgantown, Buffalo Bob
and The Bedroom Blues Band and Blues Handle. He also played
for the St. Louis Steel Guitar Players Convention for 6
years. Drummer influences throughout his career have
been, Ringo, Joe English, Charlie Martin, John Bonaham &
George Grantham. He joined the Stacey Collins Band in
2001 and has been "tearin' it up" and "rockin' it up" like
he always does and always will!!!
